Following a career in newspapers, culminating in ten years with the London Sunday Times, Fane's renewed desire was to make Jesus, and his glorious gospel, known to those who have not had an opportunity to hear the good news in a meaningful way. His life had been dominated by gambling but now he wanted to help people see that we may all have to take risks in life but that it is foolish to take a risk with eternal life.

After a period in Anglican ministry, he became an itinerant evangelist carrying out missions in Eastern Europe with the Luis Palau Evangelistic Association. Usually these missions involve speaking at a dozen or more events during the week. He has also been widely used in the UK as a speaker at men's breakfasts and dinners for all types of people. Fane has also spoken at a young people's church conference and is always happy to do any parish weekends.

He has arranged and chaired many evangelistic dinners, been used to train others in Christian outreach, and addressed local groupings of clergy and church people on ways to outreach to the community.

Fane's past official posts have included being Assistant Missioner in the Chester Diocese, and Minister for Evangelism in the Amersham Deanery, both in the UK.

Fane is now a Regional Director for Christian Vision for Men, and Partner Evangelist with the Luis Palau Evangelistic Association. Fane offers evangelistic ministry free of charge.

A suitable title for a talk would link to Fane's gambling past and simply ask, 'Is life more than a game of chance?'
